Sam Gladney Appointed to Missouri Gaming Commission

St. Louis native Sam Gladney, of counsel for Stranch, Jennings & Garvey (SJ&G) has been appointed to the Missouri Gaming Commission by Governor Mike Kehoe.

Established in 1993 to regulate excursion gambling boats, the commission is a division of the Missouri Department of Public Safety; it is overseen by five commissioners appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state senate.

The commission licenses businesses and individuals, collects taxes and fees, enforces gaming laws and regulations, and oversees charitable and commercial gaming to help ensure the integrity of the industry.

Gladney joined SJ&G in 2023 and concentrates his practice on labor law, employee benefits, nonprofit formation and compliance, and regulatory affairs. In addition to his appointment to the Missouri Gaming Commission, Gladney serves as chair of the Bi-State Development Commission in St. Louis.

Gladney earned his J.D. in 2016 from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he received a bachelor’s degree in applied science.

Following his graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for eight years, with two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During those deployments, he managed micro-grants to support Iraqi businesses southeast of Baghdad and led a platoon in Mosul.
