The seventh edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America recognizes 25,052 lawyers across 79 practice areas and 198 metropolitan and geographic regions, spanning 5,768 participating firms, including 2,409 firms represented solely by the Ones to Watch cohort.
This year's awardees were determined through 1.3 million evaluations submitted during the current cycle — adding to a cumulative total of more than 6.7 million historical evaluations, with more than 16,000 lawyers voting.
Several specialized practice areas experienced notable year-over-year growth in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America — including privacy and data security law, reflecting growing attention to issues surrounding technology, cybersecurity and regulatory compliance.
In addition to privacy and data security law (data breaches), Wells practices in the areas of class action, civil litigation and complex civil litigation in both state and federal courts.
Prior to his law career, Wells spent more than a decade as a network infrastructure engineer, both in the military and the private sector. He earned his law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, magna cum laude, along with an M.S. degree in cybersecurity risk management from Indiana University and a B.S. degree in computer science from Park University.
