Nashville-Based Firm Announces
New Office in California

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Stranch, Jennings & Garvey, PLLC (SJ&G) announced today that nationally recognized litigator Lesley E. Weaver is joining the firm as a member, spearheading the firm’s strategic expansion through the opening of a new office in Oakland, California.

Weaver, a formidable presence in complex litigation, brings a team of eight additional seasoned attorneys to SJ&G, including Member Anne Davis, and litigators Greg Mullens and Josh Samra, bringing their litigation portfolio with them. Their arrival signals a significant growth phase for the firm, bolstering its capabilities in consumer protection, privacy, cybersecurity, antitrust and securities litigation.

“Lesley is a force whose record of changing bad industry practices through litigation speaks for itself,” said J. Gerard Stranch IV, founding and managing member of SJ&G. “She has consistently gone toe-to-toe with the world’s largest multinational corporations and secured landmark results. Her arrival isn’t just an expansion; it’s a transformation of our firm’s national reach.”

Weaver joins SJ&G following a distinguished nine-year tenure as a partner at a prominent national class action firm, where she led a robust and successful consumer, privacy and antitrust practice. A graduate of Harvard University and the University of Virginia School of Law, Weaver has earned a reputation as a preeminent architect of high-stakes litigation.

Her recent achievements include serving as co-lead counsel in the multidistrict litigation against Facebook, which resulted in a $725 million settlement in 2025 — the largest recovery ever achieved in a privacy class action case. She also served as co-lead counsel in the 2024 Ninth Circuit victory in Calhoun v. Google, a pivotal case regarding consumer privacy rights.

Most recently, Weaver served as co-lead counsel in In re: Wells Fargo & Company Hiring Practices Derivative Litigation, which resulted in a $100 million preliminary settlement announced Jan. 13 against the company’s board for failing to remedy discrimination in lending and hiring. The settlement will provide qualified borrowers with funds for deposits and closing costs.

She is currently co-lead counsel in AI copyright litigation against Google, alleging infringement of the works of authors and creators. She also represents the Ohio attorney general in derivative litigation against Boeing’s board of directors arising from the 2024 “door plug” incident.

“My team and I are eager to join forces with SJ&G,” Weaver said. “I have worked alongside Gerard for more than a decade, and our shared commitment to holding powerful entities accountable makes this a natural fit. By combining our expertise, we are positioned to pursue even more complex antitrust and securities matters on a truly national scale.”

Weaver’s portfolio of high-impact litigation also includes:

  • In re: Volkswagen “Clean Diesel” Marketing & Sales Practices Litigation: Served on the plaintiffs’ steering committee for the historic case that resulted in over $17 billion for consumers and environmental remediation.
  • In re: Marsh & McLennan Cos., Inc. Securities Litigation: Achieved a $400 million settlement.
  • In re: Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep EcoDiesel Litigation: Served on the executive committee, resulting in a $207.5 million settlement.
  • In re: Google RTB Consumer Privacy Litigation: Currently serving on the executive committee in a case resulting in landmark injunctive relief allowing consumers to opt out of Google selling or sharing their personal information in real-time bidding auctions.

Joining SJ&G alongside Weaver, Davis, Mullens and Samra are attorneys Glen Tsurudome, Kasey Sullivan, Margaret Strakosch, Jooyoung Koo and David Ho, as well as stellar staff members Julie Law and Christen Jacobsen.

The addition of Weaver and the Oakland office complements Nashville-based SJ&G’s footprint, which also includes offices in St. Louis and Las Vegas. For more than 70 years, SJ&G has been a leader in mass torts and complex plaintiff representation, tackling high-stakes cases in courts across the country.
